Much warmer this weekend

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Sunny skies and warmer air close out the week. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s for much of the area Friday and Rapid City will likely reach 70°+ for the first time this year.

Saturday will be even warmer. Highs range from the 70s to the 80s! It is very possible Rapid City will follow up the first 70°+ with its first 80°+ to begin the weekend. Mostly sunny skies are expected over the weekend. Sunday will remain warm as highs stay in the 70s for many.

It will get breezy on Sunday and gusty winds will stick around into the first half of next week. Temperatures will gradually cool off, too. Highs will be in the 70s Monday, 50s Tuesday and eventually the 40s for the rest of the week.

Showers will be possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, where a few snow showers could mix in Wednesday. There is no concern for accumulations at this time.

Much colder temperatures are likely during the second half of next week as an unseasonably cold Canadian airmass builds south into the northern Rockies and northern plains.
