RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - It has been six months since the war in Gaza began and both parties are divided on how the American response to the war should be handled.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor this week to call for an election in Israel to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This move left senators on both sides of the aisle with questions and concerns.

Among those who voiced opposition is Senator Mike Rounds from South Dakota who spoke with another television station earlier this week to express his disagreement with the speech.

”It does not bode well for the message that we try to send which is we do not try to interfere in our allies’ internal affairs and we most certainly don’t try to tell our allies how to run their elections. We don’t like it when they come in our country and try to tell us how to run our elections and we should never set that type of an example for other democracies,” said Rounds.

Rounds went on to add that he thinks the United States should be doing more to support Israel.
