RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - It was nothing but adorable lab coats and scientific projects on display today at Pinedale Elementary School in Rapid City.

The school held its 19th Annual 2nd Grade Science Fair .

The event was open to the public with the gymnasium full of children presenting their projects to friends, classmates and family members.

The fair included a variety of projects such as “How far does it go” ... “Disappearing Candy” and “Let’s Go Deep with Peeps.”

The event provided an opportunity for kids to prove their understanding of the scientific method ... stretch their creativity and have plenty of fun.

Pinedale Elementary teacher Bethany Lundin (LON-DEEN) says the science fair is something students really look forward to.

“It’s a tradition, we have kids that come to second grade knowing that they will be doing the second-grade science fair. And so their older siblings or maybe an older cousin, some of them even a parent did it years ago. And so it’s something that the entire community looks forward to every year,” said Lundin.

Lundin added that the fair has a way of bringing the school together because everyone from the custodial staff to faculty members help organize the event.
