PROCTORVILLE, Ohio (WSAZ/Gray News) – An elementary school in Ohio was severely damaged during Tuesday’s storms.

A portion of the roof at Fairland West Elementary School in Proctorville was ripped off as powerful winds moved over the region on Tuesday afternoon.

Fortunately, the students were on spring break.

No injuries were reported.

In a public Facebook post, one parent shared photos of the damaged classroom, writing, “Praise Jesus they are on spring break this week. Trying hard not to imagine all the terrified babies that could have been in there.”

Due to the severe damage, plans are being made to move students to another building temporarily.

Students will not report to school on Monday to allow teachers time to set up temporary classrooms, school officials say.

The local parent-teacher organization has set up a GoFundMe page to help clean up the school and get teachers back in their classrooms.
