RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Dozens of high school and college basketball players from around the Black Hills region competed Saturday afternoon in the Lakota All-Star games. In the first high school boys game of the day, Pine Ridge’s Kanye Hollow Horn and Doulgas’ Jason Fisher had all eyes on them. Hollow Horn finished with a game-high 23 points and was touted as the Most Valuable Player, while Fisher earned Most Inspirational Player.

“It felt pretty good,” Hollow Horn said of getting back out on the court. “It’s been awhile since I’ve played ball, well, probably like two weeks, kind of really haven’t been in the gym, so I kind of surprised myself, but you know it turned out pretty good.”

“It’s good, it’s good meeting new people and coming together to do a big event,” Fisher said. “I liked it, it was set up pretty good, just good being noticed.”

In the high school girls game, Rapid City Central had three players on display: Lolo Carlow, Vilique Fallis and Aaliyah Jones. Jones tallied a game-high 31 points and was named MVP. Carlow scored 20 plus and earned Most Inspirational Player honors.

”I knew the whole team,” said Mahpiya Luta senior Kennedy Fridia. “We’ve played them throughout the season, and so it was kind of easy to connect with one another. We are all really like each other, and so we had a bunch of girls from Pine Ridge, we had all the Mahpiya Luta girls here and so it was good.”

“That’s how it was like during practice too cause we’d always go against each other, so it wasn’t something new, but it was like interesting to play in like in a real game against her I felt like,” Jones said of being matched up against Central teammate Lolo Carlow.
