Snow Storm Possible This Weekend. Breaking Down Totals
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -
Today we will see our last mild day as temperatures make it into the low 50s by the late afternoon and early evening hours in Rapid City. A few spots will stay colder throughout the day, especially on the SD Plains and into NW South Dakota. Mostly sunny skies in Rapid City are expected for the entire day before clouds begin to increase into the overnight hours. Temperatures by tomorrow morning will drop into the low to upper 20s across the region with the possibility of some morning flurries, especially in the Black Hills. Flurries will continue on and off throughout the day on Friday. Futurecast shows the flurries hanging around during the day on Friday before the main system begins to set up into the afternoon and evening on Saturday. Sunday is looking like our best shot for accumulating snowfall in Rapid City. Light to moderate accumulations are expected in and around the Black Hills with moderate accumulations on the SD Plains, NW South Dakota, and in SE Montana. A band of heavier snow could likely set up into portions of the SD Plains near Faith and Lemmon on Sunday, with heavier accumulations possible there. Rapid City will likely see around 1 to 3 inches of snowfall with this system, but there is potential for more or less with it. Throughout the rest of today, temperatures will make it into the 50s in Rapid City, but staying as low as the 30s all day elsewhere. Mostly sunny skies will take over and last through much of your Thursday. Tonight, increasing clouds make for partly to mostly cloudy skies and we cant rule out the possibility of a few snow showers into the early morning. Temperatures tonight make it into the 20s and teens across much of the region. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that the best chance for snowfall is looking to be on Sunday with flurries possible leading up to then. Rapid City sees breezy conditions along with the snowfall that is expected at the end of the weekend. There are 40s back in the forecast by the middle of next week.
