RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -

Overnight, temperatures begin to drop, but the mild feel sticks around Rapid City will see temperatures stay in the 40s. Clear skies dominate the forecast for tonight, but mostly sunny skies take right back over for tomorrow as temperatures warm back into the 60s by the late afternoon. Futurecast is showing mostly sunny skies over the course of the next three days, but a little moisture could bring some snow showers in NW SD and the Black Hills on Thursday. That isn’t the only thing we are monitoring. There is some potential for snow this weekend. What do we know right now? Well models have shown the potential for the past couple of days. There will be cold temperatures but the moisture is the main question. We are getting new information with every new model run. Potential timing for the system is looking to span from Friday through Tuesday. Below normal temperatures are likely paired with some above average precipitation. This is the recipe for the snowfall. The GFS is picking up on that and is showing that snow showers will be on and off Friday through Sunday. Tonight, we are going to see mild temperatures. most spots will get down into the mid to upper 30s while others don’t even make it out of the 40s for lows. A couple of places on the Plains may see temperatures slightly dip into the upper 20s. Tomorrow, we see one more warm day across the area. 60s and 50s scatter the forecast map for tomorrow with mostly sunny skies across much of the region. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that we are going to see temperatures fall by midweek, but they will continue on Friday, staying in the 30s. Saturday, 30s, but by Sunday and Monday, 20s are looking likely with snow chances the highest for Sunday.
