Semitruck, log truck among 20 vehicles involved in massive highway crash that injured 21

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM/Gray News) – At least 21 people were injured during a massive multi-vehicle crash on a highway in Mississippi Wednesday morning.

Officials with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office said around 20 vehicles, including a semitruck and an overturned log truck, were involved.

Authorities said 21 people were injured in the crash that happened along Hwy. 84 around 6:30 a.m.

Emergency service officials reported the crash as a “mass casualty” event.

Of the 21 injured, 10 people were taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Medical personnel triaged the other nine who refused to go to the hospital.

Jones County Emergency Operations confirmed that there were no fatalities.

Mississippi Highway Patrol will handle the investigation.

No other information about the crash has been released.
