Monument Health providers bring awareness to cardiac rehabilitation
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women.
Monument Health is bringing awareness to Cardiac Rehab Week this week by doing a treadmill challenge for the fourth year.
14 medical providers continuously walked on a treadmill from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Matt Gross who started the program says the challenge was made to celebrate patient success stories.
“We decided we needed to practice what we preach. We need to show patients that we’re not going to just tell them to exercise, we need to exercise as well and be a role model for them,” said Matt Gross, Nurse Practitioner, at Monument Health.
In those 10 hours, they were able to walk and run a total of 45.26 miles.
