Monument Health and Same Day Surgery Center warns of phishing scam

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Monument Health and Same Day Surgery Center have issued a warning about a scam in the Black Hills area. Scammers are pretending to call on behalf of Monument Health, Medicare, CMS, or Aetna and asking for personal information.

The call may appear to be from the 755 telephone prefix, which is used by Monument Health and Same Day Surgery Center. Please note that Monument Health and Same Day Surgery Center do contact patients at times to coordinate care and services, but they will never ask for personal information such as social security numbers or Medicare ID numbers.

If you receive a call that you were not expecting or suspect to be a scam, please hang up immediately and contact your regular healthcare provider to verify the call. Do not share any personal information over the phone to protect yourself from potential identity theft or fraud.
