Animal shelter helping puppy found with broken jaw, mouth banded shut
GREENVILLE, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) - An animal shelter in South Carolina says its team is helping a puppy recover from a traumatic experience.
According to the Greenville Humane Society, Finnegan, a 1-month-old puppy, was found with a broken jaw and a rubber band around his mouth, holding the broken jaw in place.
The team said they took the dog and his four siblings into their care but three of them have already died.
The puppies were “riddled with parasites and malnourishment.”
The shelter said Finnegan will need X-rays and possible surgery. The team said they didn’t know how long his snout was in the rubber band.
“The indentation and swelling tell us an untold story of the pain he’s experienced,” the team shared.
A spokesperson for the shelter said the litter was surrendered by a person who was unable to care for them. They are urging pet owners to seek help before a situation gets to this point.
Finnegan is currently under the team’s around-the-clock care along with his sister Fergie.
