MESA, AZ (KTVK/KPHO/Gray News) — A video from a city camera caught the moment a light rail train didn’t stop for a red light and crashed into a garbage truck in Arizona.

The video came from the Mesa city camera at Main Street and Robson Road, which is just east of Country Club Drive.

The video shows a garbage truck driver had the green light on Robson Road and was about halfway across the light rail tracks when the light rail operator plowed into the truck. The light rail train was going west on Main.

Officials say the light rail operator suffered minor injuries after the incident, and the train’s passengers and the driver of the garbage truck were not hurt.

Mesa Police Det. Brandi Myers said on Wednesday the crash is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued. Myers said it’s unclear if the light rail operator may have had a medical problem at the time of the crash.

While the crash is still under investigation, Mesa police say the light rail operator ran a red light before it crashed into a dump truck.
