ATLANTA (WANF/Gray News) - Authorities in Georgia say a pregnant woman has lost her baby after they were involved in a crash last week.

According to the Athens-Clarke Police Department, officers were called to a crash on Jan. 11 on Danielsville Road near Mission Drive where an Amazon delivery truck reportedly turned into the path of a 1996 Ford Ranger.

Two people were in the Ranger, including a 41-year-old pregnant passenger, who was seriously injured.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where her baby was delivered. Both were put into intensive care, but the baby died on Jan. 13, police said.

The 46-year-old driver of the Ranger and the 24-year-old delivery truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Police said the crash marked the county’s first vehicle fatality this year.

Authorities said their investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
