Severe Weather and Heavy Snow

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Here is everything going on over the next couple of days:

FRIDAY EVENING: Severe thunderstorms are possible, especially for the Black Hills and places to the north. Most of western South Dakota is under a slight risk for severe weather. Storms may produce damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail the size of a quarter. There is also a slight risk for an isolated tornado for areas southeast of Rapid City. Northeast Wyoming will mostly see light-to-moderate rain.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Heavy rain will move into the area between 9pm-midnight. The rain will slowly transition to snow throughout the night. Northeast Wyoming will see the transition to snow first (Midnight-2am), then the Black Hills and northwestern South Dakota (3am-6am), then Rapid City and the plains (6am-9am).

SATURDAY: Expect widespread heavy snow across most of our area, but especially the Black Hills, Northeast Wyoming, and Southeastern Montana. Rapid City and the plains will see snow, but not as much. The snow will continue throughout most of the day. We will also see very windy weather with gusts up to 70 mph.

SATURDAY NIGHT/SUNDAY: Heavy snow will have cleared out, but light-to-moderate snow will continue, especially for the Northern Black Hills. Snow will completely clear out by Sunday evening.
